Maria (Gigi) Cook M.Ed.
Special Education

Gigi is a special education consultant who assesses learning needs, and provides clients with remedial work. She is largely responsible for the Summer Learning Clinic at Aegis. She has been practising in the field of education since 1976. She has worked as an elementary and middle school teacher throughout Canada, and is presently at Selkirk Montessori School in Victoria as a senior school teacher.

Gigi specializes in the field of learning disabilities. She uses a curriculum-based approach to assess learning needs and prescribe remediation for children who have difficulties in Language Arts and Math. These difficulties often cause low self esteem, disruptive behaviour, and frustration for both children and parents. Gigi works closely with the children, family and school while providing her services.
